This article explores and defends a Husserlian account of perceptual knowledge and constitution, one informed in part by recent work by Bill Brewer. Both accounts draw a tight connection between the evidential role of experience and its role in grounding our concepts. In doing so, both accounts sharply distinguish perception from acts and states with conceptual content. The most significant difference between them is that a Husserlian account ascribes content to perceptual experiences, while Brewer’s account does not. I will discuss each of their positions and defend many of the central claims that each makes about the role of perception in thought and knowledge. I will then provide some reasons for thinking that, in accordance wit h Husserl’s view and contrary to Brewer’s, perceptual experiences have intentional content. mehr
