The core argument of this essay has four parts: (i) that all actual or really possible digital computing systems or digital technology more generally, especially including so-called “artificial intelligence” or AI, have ten fundamental limitations, (ii) that rational human intelligence is essentially a special non-basic or composite universal innate mental capacity or power for what I call authentic human creativity, by virtue of the essentially non-conceptual rational human imagination, which enables us to transcend those ten fundamental limitations, (iii) that no actual or really possible digital computing systems or digital technology more generally, especially including AI, are capable of authentic human creativity, therefore (iv) strong AI is false and indeed impossible, fundamentally because all actual or really possible digital computers and digital technology more generally, especially including AI, inherently lack the essential non-conceptuality of rational human creative imagination. mehr
